THE CROSS

It’s Holy Week, when many of us stop to remember Jesus’ suffering and death on the cross; then comes the celebration – His glorious, victorious resurrection!
With that in mind, I offer this poem:

Holy cross,
Symbol of grace,
Calls us to God,
To seek His face.

Tree so cruel
To slay the Lamb,
The Holy One,
The Great I Am.

Precious Lord,
You loved so much,
You suffered death,
Just to save us.

How could we
Ever repay
All that You did
To save us this way?

No good word,
Or work we do
could even begin
To come close to You.

Holy Lord,
Glorious One,
Precious Savior,
Begotten Son.

Please accept
Our humble praise
Of Your greatness
Your mighty ways.

Without You,
There is no life;
Only death and
Miserable strife.

But in You
Is life divine.
Fill us , Lord,
With Your new wine.

With great joy,
We turn to You!
Our Great Redeemer,
The God most true.

By Your grace,
We live our days
In Your service
and joyful praise.

Holy God,
No grave can hold
You or your people
In death so cold.

Glory to
The risen One!
Our All in all,
God’s Only Son!

Honor, praise,
All glory be
To Jesus Christ
Who set us free.

Angel hosts,
All creation adore
The Lord our God
Forevermore!

About lifehelps

I am like a rich tapestry, full of texture and color. I'm a musician, composer, poet, gardener, homemaker and friend. I worked as anLCSW for 22 years; as a socialworker for 26 years all told. Before that, I was a rehabilitation teacher. My passion is to come alongside others; to empower and bless them. That is why you will find plenty of variety in my blog. Two very important things to know about me is that I am a life-long learner - An explorer and sojourner. I also belong to the Lord Jesus...now, before you get tweeked out: I am not saying I am "religious." There is a huge difference between all of the rules and empty practice that often gets associated with Christianity and the kind of life that comes from being in a relationship with the loving God. May you find encouragement, inspiration, insight, good ideas and a laugh or two as you read my posts and comments.
