In a video I watched last week, Bill Johnson talked about “practical atheism.”
He said we all have areas of our lives in which we practice this:  The times we rely on human counsel and our own strategies, instead of seeking Him first.
The easiest example would be finances.  We go to a credit counselor or financial adviser, instead of asking Papa what He wants us to do or seeking wisdom from Scripture.
Just to be practical, there are times that He will send us to seek counsel from others.  The deal is, prayer and Scripture come first.

I have also been studying covenant.  Most of us don’t get this one.  It’s a solemn, formal, life-long pledge that is meant for the best of all involved.
So how do these tie together?
God’s covenant with us is that He will pour out blessings on us, take care of us, lead and guide us, give us everything, all because He loves us so very profoundly.
What He wants in return is our love, devotion, trust, obedience and everything else there is about us.  Yes, He wants everything.
That’s because He loves us so very profoundly. (Worth repeating.)

God understands that we are absolutely helpless and powerless apart from Him; that we can do all things in Him because He gives us strength.  He knows how we and the entire universe are made, down to the minutest details.  He also knows our enemy, how Satan wants only to kill, steal and destroy.  While we are still learning, God already gets the fact that our only Hope is in Him.  Because He loves us so very profoundly, He wants to protect us and see that we have His best – everything good and perfect.
Atheism?  No god?  That’s a lie!
How wonderful that the Almighty Creator, Lord of all is so personally interested in every aspect of our individual lives!

About lifehelps

I am like a rich tapestry, full of texture and color. I'm a musician, composer, poet, gardener, homemaker and friend. I worked as anLCSW for 22 years; as a socialworker for 26 years all told. Before that, I was a rehabilitation teacher. My passion is to come alongside others; to empower and bless them. That is why you will find plenty of variety in my blog. Two very important things to know about me is that I am a life-long learner - An explorer and sojourner. I also belong to the Lord, before you get tweeked out: I am not saying I am "religious." There is a huge difference between all of the rules and empty practice that often gets associated with Christianity and the kind of life that comes from being in a relationship with the loving God. May you find encouragement, inspiration, insight, good ideas and a laugh or two as you read my posts and comments.
