The path led me beside a creek,
Whose water flowed gently along.
IT was so peaceful and lovely,
I could only break out in a song.
Then the path turned up a steep hill,
Through a forest of large, old trees.
I had to breathe hard as I climbed,
Until I was brought to my knees.
At last, I was led to a place
Where I could relax for a while.
I laid on a table of stone,
Whose comforting warmth made me smile.
After resting, I journeyed on
Over mountains and rugged ground;
Through meadows and alongside streams;
To villages, cities and towns.
The path still leads ever onward;
To places I have never seen.
It has never taken me back
To where I have already been.
So every day, I continue
On the journey that’s set for me.
To discover, grow, live and serve,
Alone and in community.
